The Background: Adolescence is a period of rapid growth that requires optimal nutrient intake. An imbalance in macronutrient intake such as energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates can affect nutritional status and overall health. Inadequate intake remains one of the causes of nutritional problems among adolescents.
The Aim of Research: This study aimed to describe macronutrient intake and nutritional status among adolescents at MTsN 1 Mempawah, Mempawah Regency.
Method: This study used a descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 88 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Macronutrient intake data were collected using 2x24-hour food recall, while nutritional status was assessed using Body Mass Index for Age (BMI-for-age). Data were analyzed using univariate analysis.
Result: Most adolescents had normal nutritional status (59.1%), with overweight (21.6%), obesity (15.9%), and undernutrition (3.4%). Energy intake (50.0%), fat (52.3%), and carbohydrate (54.5%) were mostly in the deficient category, while protein intake was mostly adequate (42.0%).
Conclusion: The description of macronutrient intake among adolescents at MTsN 1 Mempawah, Mempawah Regency, showed that the majority of respondents had adequate energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrate intake. The nutritional status of most respondents was also classified as normal nutritional status. These findings indicate that, in general, the macronutrient intake of adolescents was adequate, resulting in the majority of respondents having good nutritional status.
